Bill Berridge is Senior Counsel with the firm.  He began working at the firm at its inception in 1983, and was an Associate, Member, and member of the Executive Committee before taking Senior Counsel status.

Bill has focused his practice in many different areas, including litigation, due diligence, licensing, and opinion drafting, as well as drafting and prosecuting U.S., foreign and international patent and trademark applications in the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, medical and mechanical arts.  Bill also has broad experience litigating both patent and trademark matters.  He has litigated across a number of different technology areas, including matters involving industrial chemicals, textiles, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, medical devices, and automotive and aircraft technologies.  He has served as lead and backup counsel in litigations before various U.S. district courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and in interferences, oppositions, appeals, reexaminations and other proceedings before the USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).

Bill has traveled extensively in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, India and Australia to meet with and counsel clients, conduct negotiations, provide lectures and seminars on U.S. IP law and practice, and assist clients with pretrial and trial preparations.  He has also conducted Patent Examiner interviews in the USPTO, EPO and JPO, and presented lectures to international bodies and bar associations in the United States and Europe.

As Senior Counsel, Bill continues to be involved in specific client matters and provide advice and mentorship to attorneys throughout the firm.
