Chihiro Yamazaki is a Japanese Language Specialist with the firm. She works closely with attorneys and provides Japanese/English language services to meet each client's individual needs. In her experience of over 20 years at the firm, she has translated numerous patent-related documents, including patent applications, documents cited in Office Actions, prior art references for use in expert opinions, and a wide variety of correspondence to and from clients. She has also assisted clients and attorneys with Examiner interviews and technology training at the USPTO and coordinated simultaneous filings in several countries.

Chihiro also has extensive litigation experience, assisting clients and attorneys with discovery matters, including Japanese language document review, depositions, settlement conferences, and other proceedings. She has assisted with trials in various U.S. district courts, the International Trade Commission, and in mediation at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She has also traveled to Japan to assist clients with pretrial and trial preparations, including document production.

Chihiro is also a significant part of the firm’s annual Intellectual Property Training Institute (IPTI), which is held in our Alexandria Office every fall. Since the inception of the IPTI back in 2009, Chihiro has been a member of the IPTI team and assisted participants from Japan and other countries.
