Molly Chen is an associate at the firm.  She focuses her practice primarily on patent prosecution in the areas of chemical compositions, biotechnology and medical devices.  Molly has broad experience conducting all phases of prosecution for both U.S. and foreign patent applications, including application drafting and briefing and arguing appeals at the USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).  She has lectured about U.S. patent law and practice in Japan and at several of the firm's in-house seminars, including the annual Intellectual Property Training Institute.

Molly was first introduced to patent law while completing her graduate thesis research in biomedical engineering.  At that time, Molly interned at the university's technology transfer office, and advised inventors and small businesses competing for seed funding through local competitions.  While in law school, she participated in a similar financing competition for emerging university technologies.

Before joining the firm, Molly interned at the USPTO, where she examined applications in the molecular biology and microbiology arts.  Molly also interned at a small intellectual property firm, where she drafted and prosecuted patent applications.
